OUR TEAM
General expectations:
– full commitment and accountability throughout the year
– be prepared to be present at bi-weekly meetings
– dare to express yourself and offer your own unique qualities and perspectives
Copy Editor
Responsibilities:
– responsible for editing a share of articles designated for print, paying attention to grammar, sentence structures, spelling, punctuation, etc
– providing writers with feedback
– help edit articles published on The Cavalier’s site
– generate ideas for articles
Qualifications:
– strong English skills
– ability to evaluate others’ writing
– able to provide constructive criticism
Layout Editor
Responsibilities:
– be prepared to redesign and revolutionize The Cavalier
– work with Editors-in-Chief to develop graphic elements of The Cavalier
– determine an appropriate layout for text and pictures for each issue
Qualifications:
– adept and experienced in design
– ability to work with Adobe InDesign
Please bring: a few samples of your work (e.g. posters, newspaper layouts, yearbooks, etc)
Web Editor
Responsibilities:
– work with Editors-in-Chief to redesign website
– maintaining The Cavalier’s website with articles and other relevant material
– frequently update the website and devise ways to engage the web audience
– increase online presence (e.g. add more exclusive online content, blogs)
Qualifications:
– confident/familiar in working with WordPress
Marketing Manager
Responsibilities:
– develop a marketing strategy for The Cavalier to increase readership and establish a strong brand name
– manage online social media for The Cavalier (e.g Facebook, twitter)
Qualifications:
– has experience developing marketing strategies
– creativity is a must
– have basic design skills
– Adobe InDesign and Photoshop skills are assets
Writers
Responsibilities:
– contribute articles to each issue
– submit articles on time
Qualifications:
– strong writing skills
– ability to work with editors in generating content and ideas
