For many of you, this may come as a surprise and so I want to preface by saying that this decision was made based on the best interest of the individuals involved, our organization, and our students.
That being said, as of January 1st, Matt Anderson, our Vice-President of Finance, has stepped down from his role to pursue a more rigorous academic course load. He believes that stepping down from the role will be in the best interest of our constituents, allowing for someone else to commit to the CUS fully for the remainder of the term.
While it is always difficult to see someone leave us, it is equally exciting to bring on someone new to the position. At our last Board Meeting the Board of Directors determined that Andrew Choi, a seasoned Finance Analyst for the CUS for the past two years, will be promoted to Vice-President of Finance on January 1st. Alex Tanaka has remained as the Associate VP Finance after respectfully declining the role of VPF.
An internal promotion was in our best interest given that the remainder of the term is short as elections take place in January and the hiring of the new executives begin in February. Promoting someone will allow for a smooth transition process for the portfolio and our constituents. Furthermore, with money being a time-sensitive topic, this route would have the least impact on the reimbursement process for our service chairs, as well as our students.
Andrew has been fully transitioned into the new role will be able to answer your inquiries moving forward. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org. While this is still a recent change, I ask that everyone be patient and supportive with us as we transition a new finance leadership. If you have any further comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to direct them to me and I would be happy to answer them.
